Lapham Citizen Scientists

Lapham Citizen Scientists are hard at work this week.  Learning about artists that study nature through observation and then creating what they see.  Looking at shells, feathers, turtle shells as well as heading into the garden as the weather allows.  Lapham Citizen Scientists is an on going project at Lapham Elementary that began Jan. 2018 with students in all grades. Students learned about the schools name sake Increase A. Lapham.  They learned about how instrumental he was in mapping Wisconsin, identifying weather patterns, observing, writing, and drawing all the native flora, fauna, and wildlife of Wisconsin.  Then based on Lapham's own journals and sketchbooks each student created their own paste paper book.
