Vote for the New Blue Crayon!

Crayon facts. In 1885 Binney and Smith formed the partnership that led to crayons.  In 1903 the first box of crayons was made and sold for 5 cents a box.  It contained 8 colors.  In 1958 the company introduced the largest Crayola crayon box-it had 64 in a box and a built in sharpener.  Since 1990 Crayola has retired colors.  When a new blue pigment called YInMn (yin-min) was discovered in 2009 by Mas Subramanian, a chemistry professor at Oregon State University, we were very excited. This discovery is the first new blue pigment in 200 years and is the inspiration for the new blue crayon color. We voted and you can too. The new blue crayon needs a name, so submit your Name Ideas and be entered for a chance to win! Create a name-http://www.crayola.com/splash/promos/newblue
